Really digging the melodies of the piano keys and use of strings on this track by Droop-E ft. Kendrick Lamar. A very well-composed song all-together. Get familiar with Droop-E right here.
Gonna keep my ears open for Droop-E and his upcoming project, Hungry & Humble #IsupportTheNewWest
Not sure how I missed posting this music video up before as this was one of my favorite tracks from Jay Rock's album that came out this past Summer called Follow Me Home.
I also want to send a s/o to my homie DrewByrd who was dj'ing all night, spinning the classic Bay/LA hits that got the crowd going. I can remember from way back when he first began dj'ing, and just seeing where he is today goes to show you that hard work does pay off. Man, I'm so proud of you homie #nohomo
Such an awesome showcase of the new generation in the WestCoast. The only direction is up from here.. #stayfresh
12-12-11: I got a chance to go see Jay-Z and Kanye West while they were in LA last Monday on their Watch The Throne Tour. Above is a video I took of one of my favorite Jay-Z tracks from a while back called "Dirt Off Your Shoulders"
This was probably one of the dopest concerts I've been to so far: great transitions from song to song, awesome stage & lighting/special effects, and they did all their top hits from past to current (solo & together).
The sh*t did get cray at the end of the show as (that day) they set the record of doing that song ("N*ggas in Paris") 9 times in a row. I laughed for a bit that they actually did it but I went with it anyways. Song is mad catchy and easily energizes the crowd.
Here are a few good pics I took:
How can you not be amazed when you see these two together in the same building? #EPIC
When tickets went on sale for this concert (happened last night), it sold out within a day which is why I'm so mad I couldn't go.. But man, if I had the funds I totally would have been there. Freakin dope lineup and looked like an awesome show all together.
Man, these ads every 5 min are sooo annoying, but great footage & sound quality of J. Cole & Drake's sets in these videos.
One of my favorite tracks from the Summertime btw, when it first came out.
Go get that new Snoop & Wizsoundtrack they put together for their new (short) movie called "Mac + Devin Go To High School." Came out this past Monday, grab a copy here.
If you like to blaze and need some chill mood-setting beats then this cd is definitely for you #lightoneup
This song has so much emotion within the beat, through Kendrick's words, and through the smooth vocals in the chorus.. how could you not vibe to it?
Go get Kendrick Lamar's recent album Section.80 if you don't have it already. Probably one of the top 3 albums I've been listening to the most this year. This is what I consider real hip-hop at it's finest #HiiiPower
This is a pretty dope collaboration between B.o.B. and Lil Wayneon this track, but I'm mostly drawn to the song b/c of this thumper-of-a-beat they got here. This beat has that high-energy feel to it which is what I believe the majority mainstream listeners want these days, especially the younger generation.
No, there's nothing wrong with your computer.. that's just how the music video looks. This is some hippy-like visual effects right here #str8trippy
I listened to a a stream of Terrace Martin's new recent album called Locke High 2, and it's starting to grow on me. There are some chill songs that are definitely for the weed-smoker types which is right up my alley..
Diggin Miguel's vocals on this Wale track, which is featured on Wale's recent album that just came out called Ambition. A really smooth beat right here.
I've listened to most of this album, and I gotta say it's got some pretty legit tracks and well-composed beats. My fav song on the album so far would have to be "Ambition" featuring Rick Ross & Meek Mill. Check it out for yourself.
Such a visually-trippy music video by The Weeknd so I had to post it up for everybody to see. This song gets very deep with mixed emotion, and the Weeknd does a great job doing this with all his music in general which is why I'm so drawn to his style #nohomo
In case you didn't know, this song is from the House of Balloons mixtape which you can download for free right here if you don't have it already: the-weeknd.com . I still got it up on my Mixtape on Blast section to the right if you just want to sample his music here. Awesome mixtape btw.
Been listening Drake's new album Take Care almost every day before it came out (got the leak!), and it still bumps. As much as people bag on most of his tracks because of his singing, there are a lot of good quality ones where he raps over awesome beats. Here's a quick playlist of the songs in my headphones:
- "Free Spirit" didn't make the cut on the album but I included it b/c it's a dope song
- Not really feelin "Take Care" but I added it b/c of Rihanna ;P
I love listening to well-orchestrated beats & drums, and these tracks are soothing to my ears. Overall, still an album worth buying though, and yes I did buy it.
Holy f*kin sh*t this is mad funny!! Kevin Hart aka "Chocolate Drop" puts the DROP on T-Pain in this freestyle battle. Chocolate Drop = genius. Watchu kno bout real raps??! ;P
BAARRSS HOMIE! HOT POCKETS!! CHICKEN NUGGETS!!!!!! hahaha #BARZ
One of my favorite new generation rappersKendrick Lamar with a friendly interview organized by 2DopeBoyz. One of the realist rappers out there today.
I like the part where he talks about "keeping honest people around you." I feel the same way.. you gotta have people around you who genuinely care for you, can give you honest criticism (good & bad), and keep you in check with everything going on.. or else like he said, you can forget who you are in the spotlight.
Man, I wish this NBA Lockout would get resolved soon so us fans can start watching some NBA basketball again. I'm sure KD and Bron-Bron are missing the NBA season just as much as us. Well, at least it looks like they haven't lost a step with their shot & overall skills #BasketballNeverStops
It's looking less & less likely that there will even be an NBA season this year, but I'm still optimistic an agreement will be made soon. I really hope so...
11-11-11 (Hollywood, CA): I was running a bit late but managed to catch the tail-end of an awesome MPC performance by one of my favorite beat-makers, araabMUZIK#MVPofMPC
araabMUZIK is known for his mad skills on the MPC (obviously) and he also has a great sense for hip-hop music/beats as well as the electronic stuff, which makes him an even more talented & well-rounded musician. I don't think anyone is even close to doing what he does on the MPC live... lemme rephrase that... no one can do what he does on the MPC.. LIVE.. PERIOD.
Afterwards I got to chat with him real quick, and I gotta say he's really cool & humble in-person. Hopefully the next time we meet, it won't happen because I'm a fan but because I'm ready to collaborate.
Saw this pretty cool & creative Call of Duty commercial last night during Sunday Night Football, and just wanted to share this with everybody. I liked how they used the "Vet vs n00b" concept as mostALL gamers can totally relate to this no matter what game they are playing.
They did really good job putting together celebs such as Sam Worthington & Jonah Hilland meshing them with the overall concept. Dwight Howard makes a quick yet laughable appearance in the end, which is kind of random but I guess every NBA player needs to do something to make that $ during this NBA lockout.
Overall, a very well-put together and funny COD ad. Man, this game's gonna be huge.. I don't even play video games anymore and I'm thinking about getting it.
Just saw this trailer for this new comedy movie called 21 Jump Street, and I gotta say it looks pretty hilarious. This could be a nice comeback for Jonah Hill since he's been so MIA from the movie scene for a while. Movie coming out on March 2012.
LOL @ the quote "Hey! Do you want me to beat your d*ck off?" hahah! #nice
I don't play video games much these days, but I might have to get this GTA game since the setting appears to be in LA!! Maybe they'll include other cities like San Francisco (Bay Area!) and make this just a California version of GTA. That would be awesome btw.
Based on the trailer, the gameplay looks like it's gonna be even crazier than the last one (more dynamic movement, cooler missions, nicer cars, a fighter jet?). Mad props to Rockstar Games for continuing to make each GTA out-do the last one.
J. Cole out with another new music video covering one of his deeper & more emotional songs called "Lost Ones". It's crazy how he said it was shot in 2008, and Cole now decides release it in 2011. I guess it's all about timing, and he probably wanted to make more of an impact with this track at the peak of his career. Good sh#t.
Listen to it closely as I'm sure all of us can relate.. its got a message for all of us #realtalk
If you don't have J. Cole's album already then you're missing out. Go get it right here:
The beat on this song has a really trippy feel to it but it's hella dope none the less. Got a really catchy hook and the song just vibes well. Well done on both ends Drizzy #OVOXO
I didn't get a chance to check out the entire BET Awards show that aired today cuz I got off work late, but I did catch some of it and this "Cypher" was probably the main highlight of the night.
Shady 2.0representing! Even Eminem spits a dope verse at the end #killsit
I'm gonna see if I can go find any other videos of the main performances. I freakin forgot to record it, ughhh.
"I be yellin out money over everything, money on my mind..." -Drizzy
Another hot track released earlier this past Summer by Drake, and now here's the music video.
I really like the sounds of the drum beats, and it has such a catchy hook. I'm very impressed by Drake & his team #OVO as they just knows how to make every Drake song flow so well to all types of music-heads.
Drake's second album"Take Care" releasing this month: 10/24/11#CANTWAIT
- 10/08 Update: Drake pushed back the release date to 11/15/11. More info here.
I'm not tryin to drop a promo for these Adidas shoes b/c they are kinda ugly to me. I really want to focus on how dope this commercial is. What makes it dope is.. well 2 things: The cool imagery & sick moves by Derrick Rose and the awesome instrumental beat.
If you are a music/hip-hop head then you must be wondering, who composed the beat? Well, its none other than the one & only araabMuzik. I recently saw this video about him and never really realized how supernaturally-talented he is on the MPC. Check out this recent video of him below:
Watching stuff like this keeps me motivated. Still on my road to learning music in hopes of making dope-sounding beats like araabMuzik and many others beat producers I'm following #inspired
"Never fuss or fight, on the grind tryna find this lettuce; I love it when you give me head, I hate it when you give me headaches!" - J. Cole
I got a chance to listen to J. Cole's new album (Cole World: The Sideline Story) before it came out, and I pretty much liked every song on the album so this is definitely an album worth buying.
If you're a true hip-hop fan, you will go and buy this album vs trying to find a free download. You can order it here at the itunes store, but I prefer getting a physical copy at the store so I'm gonna do that instead. #IsupportHipHop
"Tat my f*ckin name on you so I know it's real.." - Drizzy
Just wanted to post this song up b/c it's been on repeat in my playlist for the past few weeks. The beat/sounds puts me in a really relaxed mood and is keeping me at ease during this busy time.
Wdup peeps! I'm not really back to blogging on a regular basis yet (still busy with work & moving out), but I had some free time today and wanted to share something that caught my attention. Enjoy! =P
Kate Upton has been that new "hot chick" these days ever since she blew up on Sports Illustrated and people found out that she can Dougie. For all the fellas out there, if you haven't seen this commercial yet then prepare to jizz in your pants.
Try out the actual staring contest game right here: Sobe.com
I've decided to take a break from blogging since I've been getting off work super late these days and haven't had much time to focus/research/write. I've noticed my posts have been a bit sloppy recently (to me) so I might as well take this time off until my schedule settles. A bit stressed at the moment but listening to this music video helps me cope with it #wegonemakeit
I'll be back in 2 weeks (by October for sure), and I might drop a post here & there when I can. It's just a really busy month for me and I have a lot of other things to deal with before this month is over. Until then you're always welcome to follow me on twitter:
I don't play much video games these days anymore, but this is the one game I'll play until the end of time. #NBA2K #bballneverstops
This is a pretty fun/cool promo for you NBA/NBA2K fans as Michael Jordan is engaging the fans to submit videos of which team they think is the GREATEST of all time. The video game is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on October 4th. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!
All the details to this debate is right here: nba2kdebate
Last time I checked, these sneakers were going for $75K #CRAZY .. #DISGUSTING .. #SOMEONEBUY4ME !!
You probably have until the end of today to buy them, so if you are filthy rich and have nothing better to spend your money on then... F--- YOU!!! #spreadthewealth
Don't worry, there's a handful more going on sale too. More details on these limited edition shoes here: Kicksonfire
Here's a funny commercial with Kevin Durant promoting these shoes:
When they come out with the power-laces then I'll think about saving my money for those. =P
It seems like every song Roscoe Dash is on it always has a party beat, but I gotta give him some props for making good party music because his choruses are mad catchy. Not really one of my type of songs though as I'm more of a "I Do It" type.
You can always count on Evidence & DJ Premier to continue bringing that underground-fresh sound with their style of Hip-Hop music #realHipHopsh*t
With all the loud music out there, I'd prefer this kind of music to be played more often for those of us who like to mellow-out... watevers tho, as long as we still have people making this kind of music then we'll have people (like me) listening to this then.
FYI, Evidence has his Cats & Dogs LP dropping on Sept 27th. You know I'll be all over that.
KD vs Lebron... need I say more? Just watch their highlights. #basketballneverstops
Here are some ESPN highlights of the game:
Just want to put this out there.. This is gonna be a really busy month for me so I may not be posting as much as I normally do but I'll try to share what I can. Bare with me.. (you can always follow me on twitter!)
Yea, this video is a tad late but I just wanna show everyone that I really enjoy live shows/music these days since I missed out on soo much when I younger, and hope the people I'm reaching have a similar appreciation to enjoy this video I'm posting.
There are a lot of Hip-Hop shows in LA but I'm having trouble finding the time and the right people who want to go with me. S'all good tho.. as long as I stay motivated...
This is one of those tracks where you gotta light one up every time this song comes on.. trust me, it will sound sooo much better. #wheresmylighter
It looks like Kendrick Lamaris having so much fun in this music video though.. makes me wish I could go back to my younger days and do it all over again. Doesn't watching this make you just want to let loose a bit? #youonlyliveonce
Ok, enough blabbin.. real talk tho. Ever since I was first introduced to Kendrick's music last Fall, I've been hook onto his style, sik flows, and the content with his raps. My thoughts: d00d is mad talented now and in a few years people will probably deem him a genius.
Like I said in a previous post, go get his recent album Section.80 b/c it's gonna be a CLASSIC!
8/20/11 (San Bernadino, CA): So, I wasn't sure if I was going to go to Rock the Bells this past Saturday but luckily I was able to get one of my good music homies to come out with me.
I left LA pretty late so I didn't get to enjoy RTB to it's fullest but I managed to check out a bit of Erika Badu & Mobb Deep, saw Nas peform, and ended the cold night with some Lauryn Hill. Yea, it was freakin cold cuz I was wearing a T-shirt & shorts expecting it to be super hot over there. #wardrobefail
Anyways, here's a video I took of one of my new favorite songs by Nas & Common called "Ghetto Dreams." Chekkit live right here:
- Still a lot of Hip-Hop fans here as you can see...
Regardless of missing a lot of performances during the day, I'm grateful I was able to go & enjoy live Hip-Hop and be surrounded by Hip-Hop heads for once. It seems like they're hard to find around here in LA since everybody around me listens to that electro/dub-step sh*t, or maybe I need to start looking for them...
Last Friday, Kendrick Lamar had a show at the Music Box in Hollywood, CA, and every top dawg from the West was there like Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, The Game, and others. There were also special appearances by Big Sean, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and a bunch more I'm probably missing. The torch has been passed on, and I'm confident Kendrick will hold it down strong for the WestCoast & put us back on top. #westcoastback
Anyways, I regret not going to this show.. once in a lifetime moment... #BIGsadface
I must say though, Kendrick is a super-talented young artist who stays true to that real hip-hop sound and incorporates that new generation flavor #bestforbothworlds
If you haven't heard of him yet then go check out (buy) his recent album called Section.80. If you're a true fan of hip-hop then I dare you to listen to it and tell me you don't feel the same way about him.
Brandon Jennings is such a flashy Point Guard that I've always kept my eye on, and boyyyy he's got some range. Man, it's so fun watching what these NBA players are doing in the off season to stay active.
It seems like the NBA lockout may extend for a while so I hope we can see more of these off-court type of videos of these NBA players in a city near you. Just please don't go overseas! My suggestion: start an exclusive NBA All-Star Street League and tour the country!! #HOLLAAA
I remember the days when I used to be hooked on the original GoldenEye video game for N64. I would spend a lot of my early high school days playing that game at my homies house and having tournaments all day. Ahh how I miss those days; I used to be super OG at it too.. #CLASSIC
Anyways, this new GoldenEye Reloaded game looks really cool tho. I gotta say kids have it so good these days with technology advancing so quickly in the video game world. When video games first came to play in my childhood days, it was all about the original Nintendo (NES) and Super Mario man!
Nowadays, video games are way more complicated with all these different buttons & moves/gameplay. Why can't video games go back to being simple? #toomuchwork=P
Now that football is underway, I can officially say that my sport is BAAACK! (still got love for basketball too) Well, it's preseason now but I'm still really excited. In the words of Bart Scott, "CAN'T WAIT!!" for the season to begin..
I noticed that the timing of these "Educator" commercials start right when school is about to begin, which aligns up perfectly with the theme of the commercial. Footlocker & Nike did the same thing last year, and I even posted that one up here:
Missing that old school Hip-Hop sound? Well, here you go! =D
A dope collabo-track by Common & Naswith an "authentic" hip-hop beat (with real instruments & mixing; none of that electro sh*t) and fluid rhymes. They both are truly considered as artists to me when it comes to making genuine Hip-Hop music. #keepinHipHopalive
It looks like Common is coming out with a new album this Fall called The Dreamer, The Believer, so be on the lookout for that. Cuz you know I'll be all over that..
As you may know, I'm a beginner big sneaker-head and was able to create & own my first pair of Nike Dunks at the Nike ID station in Santa Monica, CA. I'm so happy with my creation, what do you think? Sneakers are becoming my new obsession. =D
I will officially call them the "Hella Faded JYeezys" #trademarked
I'm really diggin the melodies & sounds of this uplifting yet mellow-relaxing beat, which is definitely my type of tune. Hopefully one day I'll be able to compose a beat like this.. #stillLearnin
I'm too tired to write more today so listen to this track and lemme know what you think. This song also features a cool young artist by the name of Mac Miller. Enjoy.
Whenever I need to put myself in a better mood from a long day of work or get my mind off thinking about dumb sh*t, I just put on some good tunes and vibe. #MusicRelief
This song especially makes me feel so much better because it reminds me of the good times I had when I was a kid growing up in the Bay, and when this song was str8 poppin! Certain songs can uplift moods and this one does it for me. You just gotta find what your song is.
One of my favorite classic Bay Area tracks of all time btw. Hope you can vibe to this song as much as I still am. #RememberTheGoodTimes
I guess I'm a bit late with this Kevin Durant video since it has spread all over the web and already made it's way on ESPN too. Oh well, I want to show this anyways for peeps that may have missed it.
Basically, its a video of KD making three 3-pt shots in a row so effortlessly at a league game (I believe) in Rucker Park. Call him #MrSmooth
Here's another longer video showing more of the game he played in:
If an NBA lockout really does happens, I think certain NBA players should team up, start a street league, and tour the country. Do it for the fans, not the money!
It looks like BMW is stepping up their game and getting their feet wet with electric cars by unveiling their own electric concept cars: the i3 & i8. Not sure when these new electric cars will be released but they look super sleek. #iwantone
I've been keeping tabs on these recent documentary movies about Hip-Hop, and just wanted to share this with ya'll. If you're truly a fan of Hip-Hop then I suggest everyone check out the above documentary movies.
I still need to check out the TCQ one that's already out; heard it's really good.
Loud Tour: Rihanna & Jay-Z ("Run This Town" live)
- Destination: New Jersey, NY
Who wouldn't want to see Rihanna& her sexy body, and Mr. HOVA himself: Jay-Zup on stage together. #EPIC
Good to see Jay-Z is back doing live concerts again though. He just announced his tour dates with Kanye West to promote their new album coming out next month. Check out the tour dates right here.
I've been bumping The Weeknd for a while now and I just can't stop listening to his recent mixtape, House of Balloons. He'll be performing at the OVO Fest with Drake & Rick Ross this Sunday, 7/31, for those of you in Canada. It's gonna be a dope show over there #IwishIcouldgo
Here's a recent track for all you peoples who like to "light one up." I like this beat especially because it makes me feel super lazy but in a good, relaxed way. =P
Granted these guys are pretty well-known in the Hip-Hop world, I think this collaboration is a good way for these new generation of WestCoast rappers to get that mainstream buzz and hopefully spark a new era in the West. I feel like it's been a while since the WestCoast had that real "icon" in Hip-Hop. With that said, the West is coming back! #ReppinDatWest
Definitely a good summertime song #BlazeItUp
FYI, Jay Rock just came out with his first official album today called Follow Me Home and I gotta say this album is overall pretty dope. It's in stores & itunes now so go get it. So many sick beats on that album btw.
I heard Lebron James participated in the Drew League over here in LA this past weekend, and I finally found a video someone posted up. Here are the Lebron highlights from the game.
FYI, this Drew league is pretty popular with alot of NBA athletes; a few weeks ago Kevin Durant even stopped by & played in it too. If you check their site & read up a bit more, there have actually been alot of appearances by many other NBA players and some rap artists. I think The Game even has his own team in it.
A very respectful league they got here with some good competition, I'm sure. I should try to go check it out sometime.
I heard through twitter that Kevin Durant was going to be in the Phillipines, but I didn't know some of other NBA all-stars & players were going to play a game there. Here's a clip of Kobe Bryant throwing an alley-oop to my favorite PG, Derrick Rose. #Awesomeness
I swear almost every professional athlete has a twitter account, and it's quite entertaining to see what they are up to & talking about. As you can tell, I'm becoming an avid Twitter user. =P
I just got super inspired after watching this short documentary of Jay-Z & Kanye West in the making of their new duo album called Watch The Throne. I wish I could just get into their heads to get a glimpse of their creativity when they make music. With them teaming up together again, I'm having high hopes for this new album they are coming out with. #HipHopAtItsFinest
I thought this was a cool segment Jimmy Fallon & Justin Timberlake did performing the "History of Rap #2" The first one they did was a while back; last year I think (linked here). I think this second one was done way better than the first.
40 Glocc - Welcome To California (Remix) - featuring Snoop Dogg, Too $hort, Xzibit, & Siven
I can tell this is definitely a 'Bay Area' type beat compared to all the Bay Area music I listen to, and I am originally from the Bay... ya know, where we say HELLA and get HYPHY #YEEEEE
Now, I'm not sure what they are trying to show in this music video: the LA/Bay lifestyle or all these rapper/artist twitter account names. It's like everybody's trying to boost their twitter followers or something.
I really just wanted to post this song because "this is for the Westside!" Props to the old-school West for collaborating together. Haven't seen this in a minute.
If you haven't heard or seen this teaser trailer yet already, well, you're just in time to see it! I'm a huge fan of this Dark Knight movie series featuring Christian Bale, and I'm super excited for this final movie of the series: The Dark Knight Risescoming out in Summer 2012. #CANTWAIT
Here's another action-packed movie I'm also looking forward to, Mission Impossible 4 - Ghost Protocol:
I think this will put Tom Cruiseback up the rankings of "Action-Stars" as this movie looks freakin awesome from the trailer. Please don't dissapoint me Tom; I'm vouching for you're comeback. FYI, this movie is scheduled to be release this December 2011. #CANTWAITAGAIN
"Sometimes I amaze, somtimes I dissapoint; sometimes I blow this paper like it's just a joint..." -Fabolous
I can't believe this song got past my radar for the few months that it's been out, so I just wanna say props to VEVO for setting up this music video and finding it's way to me =)
As soon as I heard the beginning of the beat, I knew this one was gonna be good. Fabolous has always held a good rep with me and is still coming out with those banger-type songs. He also has a slick rappin style and can get quite creative with his lyrics too. Keep em comin Fab.
"After you wake up, everything is wonderful; and you can overcome anything you undergo..." -Fabolous
Everybody who's anybody has some sort of "pain" in their lives that they deal with whether it be legal issues, money problems, work stress, etc, but people gotta realize that it's not worth it to dwell on it otherwise the pain will just get deeper.
The way I cope with pain is to keep my mind focused, my head up, and my time busy. Easier said than done, I know, but if people can grasp what I just said and try to change their mindset then I truly believe it can be really helpful for a lot of people. Music also helps make the pain go away sometimes.. #realtalk
Some 411 for all you youngsters, this sik beat is actually from an old school 2Pac song (check it here), which Fabolous basically just ripped. This beat is so popular that even J. Cole made his own variation of it. Chekkit:
J. Cole - See World
"Six shots of Hennessy I'm still going strong; please numb me from the bullsh*t that's going on..." -J. Cole
Regardless, both rappers did a good job making a dope song with lyrics I can vibe with #staymotivated
Deron Williams is one of my top 3 favorite point-guards in the NBA right now, and it's going to be real sad if he plays overseas in Turkey because of this stupid NBA lockout.
I believe in 2012 that the world will really be coming to the "end of days" if the NBA gets locked out next season as well as the NFL. Idiot owners and their greed for more money.. If we had no sports this Fall then I think everybody would go stupid craaaaazy #badnews
On a funnier note, check out this video of Bow Wow getting owned by Kobe:
"Come here little fella... shut up!" - Kobe Bryant
Kobe is just playing casually while Bow Wow is down $1K. Smh @ Bow Wow for even thinking he had a chance. No, you didn't just lose Bow Wow, you got spanked, taken to school, and spanked again after school #blackmambastyle
Konichiwa b*tches! hahaha! Kenny Powers is my f*kin idol!! =P
A lot of my friend's have been posting this all around facebook so I just had to share this on my blog for ya'll. This is a hilarious 5-minute promo for K-Swiss featuring Kenny Powersas the MFCEO and cameos with a whole bunch of athletes.
If you haven't seen Eastbound & Down on HBO yet then I suggest you go watch it if you got a kick out of this commercial. That show is freakin mad funny!
Ahhh, Chiddy Bang.. this is the d00d who recently broke the Guinness World's Record for longest freestyle rap. If you don't believe me then check this.
When I first heard this freestyle, I thought to myself: "that was so 'LA' of him to pick this beat" since electro/dubstep music is all I hear in the clubs & the radio over here these days. I'm not saying its a bad thing but rather it's more so a beat that appeals to the newer/younger generation, which is his type of crowd anyways. This is a bit loud for me personally but I can tune my ears to it when I'm in the mood #fistpump
In case you're wondering, the beat is from an english DJ named Flux Pavilion. Chekkit:
FYI, I'm not a total fan of his music just yet but he's had my attention ever since I heard this song a while back called Opposite of Adults, in which he basically raps over a chopped up version of this MGMT beat. I'll be keeping tabs.
Sorry for the lag everyone; it took me some time to recover from the July 4th weekend in Vegas but I'm back! Well, kinda sorta.. #stillrecovering
Anyways, I just heard this new track by Nas & Raekwon today and just fell in love with this dope beat. This beat reminds me of the early 90's when hip-hop was simple & chill, and had lyrics that you could bump your head to. The good ol' days...
On a side note, it looks like LRG set this all up so props to them for giving us hip-hop fans something to watch & listen to #realtalk Saw it here first:KarenCivil.com
This is such a nice summer party song with that thumpin beat, and the chorus is mad catchy too! Whenever I hear this song, it gets me in the mood to wanna go out #ItsTshirtTime
You wanna know what's better than a 6+ min remix? A 12+ min REMIX! haha! Ok, freals tho.. the 12+ min one is way better. There is another list of rappers on this one that I'm not gonna go through, but I'll just name a few: Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, Bun B, Wale, and more. Chekkit:
YC - Racks (Remix) ft. VA
I'm not sure who YC is yet but I'm sure I'll be hearing more from this d00d. Until then, I got "racks on racks on raaaacks!"
Ok, just to give yall a heads up ima be heading to Vegas for the long weekend. I probably won't be posting anything until I'm back, but in the meantime I'll be updating my twitter from time to time: @DaysofJfollow me & my shenanigans ;)
"The woman I that I would try, is happy with a good guy; but I've been drinkin so much, that ima call her anyway and say..." -Drake
I totally understand the feeling of what Drakeis saying in this song by watching his body language in this music video & listening to the lyrics. I sorta feel like I've been in a similar situation before, and I hate catching myself drunk dialing like that. #ImAnIdiot
The chorus of this song should really go: "I'm just sayin, I could do better... tell me have you heard that lately?"
This beat is just soo sick #RAW, and man the music video makes this track by SBTRKT sound that much more intense. My mind just seriously went on a wild ride right there #CRAZY
There's even a dope remix with Drake dishin out a verse in it, and he comes out mad raw too. Chekkit:
SBTRKT - Wildfire (Remix) ft. Drake
"They watch us make that sh*t into a song, ya aint livin that boy stop stealin that life; Anything could happen when I do see ya, guess it all depends on how I’m feelin that night.." -Drake
So, my homie got me to listen to this recent free CD that just came out by The Weeknd called House Of Balloons (click for a free dl link), and dam... I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with their style of music. If you like slow jams mixed with dark/sensual beats, a lot of emotions, and some edgy-ness lyrically then you'll definitely like this kind of music.
I'm most impressed with how well they've composed these songs together on that CD. I mean cmon, the vocals are freakin amazing and the beats are different, in a good way. It's like a new sound.. a new flavor, which I'm starting to like. I'm trying to be more open-minded with music these days so maybe that's helping me get an ear for this.
Don't get me wrong, I'll always put Hip-Hop/Rap as my #1 music but I can make an exception for this d00d. FYI, Drake co-signed & is working with this guy so I'm sure he'll have a "bright" future coming.
If you're too lazy to dl their free CD then listen to the streaming SoundCloud I posted to the right in the 'Mixtape On Blast' section >>>>>
"I don't really give a fcuk, and my excuse is that I'm young; And I'm only gettin older, somebody shoulda told ya.. I'm on one... fcuk it I'm on one." -Drake
I've been stuck on this song ever since it came out, and finally there's a music video for it. I gotta say, this beat is just ridiculously dope, and DJ Khaled's collabo with Drake, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne make this song that much more of a great hit. It's definitely this year's summer jam. Everybody has to of heard this one by now.
Since there hasn't been much hip-hop news that's really caught my attention lately, I've decided to just keep it old school with all the posts this week. Here's another one of my favorite classic hits from Outkast. #ItsLikeThatNow
Need to get my mind off work cuz it's been such a hectic week for me, and this song does a good job of that. I swear if I'm ever having a rough day, I can just turn on some good tunes and it will make me feel all better. This is why I love good music so much.. this is how I cope.
This is one of my favorite classic tracks by Nas featuring R. Kelly (when he was the most normal). Definitely one of Nas' smoother & chiller songs from back in the day.
I can really chill to this all-day; this song can even put me to sleep.. just two more days til the weekend and then I can do some real chillin, haha!
I'm just starting to grow an interest in beat-making and I found this video quite interesting. It's an old clip of the legendaryPete Rock giving us a glimpse of how he makes beats on an MPC. #inspired
I really want to learn how to make beats as a side hobby b/c I enjoy music (hip-hop) so much, but I understand it's way more complicated than it is. For starters, I just got this beat-making program called Reason 4 so ima mess around with that for now ;)
Maybe one day I'll get to a level where I can get my own MPC. Until then, I gotta put in the work to learn this craft...
"And it might sound cliche, but I'm lovin you much more each day; Even though me & your mother don't click, if it benefit you then I do whatever she say; that's Fatherhood."
- Saigon
Saigon is very inspiring with his lyrics in this song and in so many others, which is why I'm a big fan of his underground music. Yea he comes out with the raw stuff from time to time but overall he makes such good quality songs that's meant to uplift and motivate people. If you like chill beats + deep lyrics then you'll like Saigon.
The beats he raps over in a majority of his songs are ridiculously dope, which is another reason why I can vibe so well with his music. One of my all-time favorite Saigon albums is with Statik Selektah called All In A Day's Work. Check it out.
To all them hardworking dads out there, Happy Father's Day.
I'm drooling for limes.. I just wanna roll around in some limes right now.. maybe even squeeze some.. can I just get a little taste please? =P
Ok back to reality.
In case you were wondering, that is oh-so-lovely Arianny Celeste featured in this commercial who is one of the official UFC Octagon girls. She's grown such a big fanbase by being a UFC Octagon girl for so long and was just recently placed on the cover of the June/July UFC Magazine. Check out the cover here.
On a similar note, the upcoming UFC fight will be UFC 132 scheduled on July 2nd in Las Vegas, NV. What a coincidence, I'm going to be in Vegas that weekend (again!) but more so to relax & party all weekend. I'll probably catch the fights in one of the casinos tho. Pretty decent fight card, if I must say.
Hope this made your day cuz it just made mine. Thank goOodness it's Friday!
I've talked about this track in a previous post here, so I'm not gonna go into it. I just wanted to post up the music video b/c this song is dope and I'm becoming a fan of Big Sean's music.
There is so much good hip-hop coming out this Summer it's like in rapidfire mode right now, which is fkin awesome. I think that dull moment in hip-hop is over and now we're gonna see a lot of dope music roll out through the rest of the year.
FYI, Big Sean's album called Finally Famouswill be coming out towards the end of this month (6/28). Be on the lookout for that.
I just got to listening to this album and I gotta say it's filled with mostly hard sounding beats, but there are some tracks that are orchestrated really well. Lyrically, it's ehhhh and I'm not fully in-tune to the hardcore rappin they do, but if you just like listening to good beats and are a fan of Wale & Rick Ross then go cop it here. This is the kinda music you just bump to.
I knew I recognized one of the sample sounds they used on this track; it sounds like they got it from this Lloyd Banks track: Take Em To War (ft. Tony Yayo). Do you know what I'm talking about? This is a dope song too btw
Ok, I'm done with today's lesson so go cop their new album Hell: The Sequel which drops today in stores everywhere. If you've heard Royce & Eminem's music from back in the day & you're a true hip-hop head then you need to go get this. Support a style of real hip-hop.
Complex Magazine always does alot of cool stuff in the hip-hop space and just knows how to give the fans/readers what they want.
Here's a cool animated cover they just posted up with Eminem & Royce the 5'9"; right on time of the release of their collaboration album Hell: The Sequel, which is out tomorrow 6/14. GO GET IT!
