Day 302: Obama over Romney in the 2012 Elections - Celebratory Songs (Video)
I had no doubt that Obama would get re-elected over 'the Mitt'. Now, if Obama's victory speech was a rap video, it'd sound something like this ^^
And oh yea don't forget, our President is still...

Day 249: Rewind It Back - Dead Presidents II (Classic)
Jay-Z - Dead Presidents II
Lately, I've been digging through my library of old Hip-Hop tracks (as you can probably tell) trying to find what artists/songs inspired me to become so engulfed with this type of music. I came across Dead Presidents by Jay-Z, and was like dam... this is one of them. As I was listening to the track over & over again, it reminded me of a nicer & simpler time. The beat and rhymes put me in such a calm/relaxed state of mind that I didn't even need to smoke to get there.
Along with finding what inspires me, I've been doing research on the type of samples artists used from back in the day and trying to understand how they mixed it into such a nice Hip-Hop beat. Just a heads up, the sample Jay-Z used for this track was taken from the song below:
Lonnie Liston Smith - Garden of Peace
Such an awesome melody btw.. I can listen to this instrumental forever.
Slowly but surely, one of my music goals is to eventually learn how to sample and cut up music, and be good at it.. #StayingMotivated

Day 237: Jay-Z live at "Watch The Throne Tour" in Staples Center LA (Events)
12-12-11: I got a chance to go see Jay-Z and Kanye West while they were in LA last Monday on their Watch The Throne Tour. Above is a video I took of one of my favorite Jay-Z tracks from a while back called "Dirt Off Your Shoulders"
This was probably one of the dopest concerts I've been to so far: great transitions from song to song, awesome stage & lighting/special effects, and they did all their top hits from past to current (solo & together).
The sh*t did get cray at the end of the show as (that day) they set the record of doing that song ("N*ggas in Paris") 9 times in a row. I laughed for a bit that they actually did it but I went with it anyways. Song is mad catchy and easily energizes the crowd.
Here are a few good pics I took:
How can you not be amazed when you see these two together in the same building? #EPIC

Day 186: Making of "Watch The Throne" ft. Jay-Z x Kanye West (Documentary)
I just got super inspired after watching this short documentary of Jay-Z & Kanye West in the making of their new duo album called Watch The Throne. I wish I could just get into their heads to get a glimpse of their creativity when they make music. With them teaming up together again, I'm having high hopes for this new album they are coming out with. #HipHopAtItsFinest

Day 84: Jay Electronica in a Mtn Dew commercial (Video)
I just saw this Mountain Dew commercial from a friend's post on faecbook, so I had to put it on here because I thought it was pretty cool how it gives people a glimpse of what Jay Electronica is about. I'm happy to see that he's getting more exposure these days as this d00d has mad talent as an artist, and it's about time he jumped into the spotlight.
As some of you may have heard, Jay Electronica has been getting more of a buzz lately after he stepped away from working with good friend Sean "Diddy" Combs and signed under Jay-Z's label Roc Nation in early November. I think this was a good move for him & his music as I'm thinking if he signed with Diddy then his music would turn into "Diddy's music" and about what Diddy wants, you know what I mean?
For those who haven't heard of Jay Electronica, here's a song he came out with right after he signed with Jay-Z (sort of his official stamp to signing with Roc Nation). Check it out if you haven't heard it already:

Day 30: The Real Reason Jay-Z & Fat Joe Never Talk (Video)
In case you didn't know about this, Jay-Z & Fat Joe have never said "hello" to each other because of a heated rivalry that brewed up during the early 2000's.
So this all started when Fat Joe and other top rappers (at the time) organized a streetball league/tournament, which was held at Rucker Park (the mecca of streetball). For the longest time, Fat Joe was the champ and had the most dominant team on the court. One year, Jay-Z stepped into the game and made his way to the championship game to face-off against Fat Joe's team. Leading up to that, tensions and egos built up so much that both Fat Joe & Jay-Z started recruiting top NBA players such as Shaq, Lebron, Carmello, Jamal Crawford, and many others to be rumored (Yao Ming?!).
It got so crazy that.... well just watch the whole video and check it out:

Man, I gotta go visit Rucker Park if I ever go to New York.

Day 22: Drizzy-Drake - "Light Up" (Un-official Video)
- Saw it here first: http://www.drizzydrake.net/
This video caught my attention although it's not the official music video to Drake's song "Light Up" featuring Jay-Z. I really like the imagery shown throughout the entire video, and am diggin the black & white look which adds to the dark feeling of this song. Also too, the beautiful ladies spittin on Drake & Jay-Z's verse are definitely good eye candy to watch. Towards the end, this video gets spoiled as they decided to add another verse which is pretty lame. -5 points for that...
This is one of my favorite tracks on Drake's recent album, Thank Me Later, and has such an awesome beat. In case ya'll haven't heard it, I got the audio right here:

Day 17: Wish I coulda been in NY to see Jay-Z & Eminem (Videos)
9/13-9/14 (2010): This date marked the first-ever concert @ the new Yankee Stadium, but sadly the end of the "Home & Home" tour featuring Jay-Z & Eminem. After reading a lot of reviews about the show, it sounded like it was EPIC! Not only were they rockin it in the Bronx (considered the birthplace of rap to some), but there were also guest appearances from Young Jeezy, Kanye West, Beyoncé, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, D12, B.o.B., and some others. I don't think we'll ever see another concert with all those top artists in the same building ever again, so I envy all of you who got to experience that memorable concert.
For those of us who didn't get to see it live, I found some videos from the show:
Jay-Z performs "Renegade" with Eminem and "Light Up" with Drake

Day 13.5: Kanye West - G.O.O.D. Friday (Audio) & More **NEW**
Just heard this new Kanye West song called "Good Friday" featuring Common, Pusha T, Kid CuDi, Big Sean, and Charlie Wilson. It's got a happy piano beat, so I'm sure everyone can vibe to this song. Check it out:
