Day 123: The New Look for Adidas ft. Derrick Rose, Katy Perry, B.o.B. & More
I've been seeing this cool "Adidas is all in" campaign going on a lot recently, and I just want to share this new commercial they've unveiled. It's a very motivating & uplifting commercial featuring some of their top athletes & musical artists such as Derrick Rose, Katy Perry, B.o.B., and more.
I really like how they tie in music & sports together, and I can see why because being a professional athlete or a widely-known musician require so much hard work if you want to compete with the best and stay on top of the game.
I'm starting to like where Adidas is heading as a brand right now. I'm all in.
Good lookin Shimp-Dizzle for showing me this one =)

Day 90: DPG bringing back the OG hits from the 90's @ Key Club (Events)
(I'm pretty behind with this one but I thought I'd share my thoughts on this event anyways, so suck it!)
1-07-11 (Hollywood, CA): I went to check out a DPG (Dogg Pound Gangstaz!) performance at the Key Club in Hollywood. If you listened to WestCoast hip-hop back during the 90's then you'll know who I'm talking about and appreciate all the dope jams they brought to us.
First off, the place was mad packed everywhere; even the stage was getting too crowded at one point so they had to stop the performance and make their entourage back up. It was hard enough for me to see since I got there late but my friends and I were able to guide our way through the crowd and get a good view of the show.
I didn't recognize most of them on stage, but was able to point out Kurupt (aka Young Gotti), Daz, Roscoe, and DJ Quik (he was actually mixin on the 2nd level balcony). Jayo Felony was there too and I think because he's looking to sign under the same label as DPG.
I basically caught the end of the show but it was still pretty awesome just being there and supporting some of the rawest OG WestCoast rappers ever. My favorite part of the show was when Kurupt did his verse from the song New York New York, and suprised everyone at the end with Xxplosive & Callin Out Names. I gotta say Kurupt is so dam lyrical and puts mad energy in his performances, so major props to him for putting it all out there every night.
I also did like Daz when he performed In California (such a dope song!). And I can't forget Roscoe with his performance of one of my other favorites Smooth Sailin (the summertime jam).
Check out some pictures I took of the event:
- See, it was crazy packed on stage..
- Kurupt doin his thang!
- Daz & Kurupt!
- Throw your W's up if you love the West!
The WestCoast is the BestCoast.. Holla!
Props to my homie J.Li.

Day 88.5: Light one up to some new Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa (Audio)
Wiz Khalifa & Snoop Dogg have one main thing in common: they love to smoke all day, every day. On that note, here's a super chill song they both made while doing what they love. I'm going to call this the new "smoke sess" anthem, so before you spark one play this song ;)

Day 88: Snoop Dogg @ HoB on New Years Day (Events)
1/01/11 (Hollywood, CA): Although I was soo hungover all day from partying the night before, I went to go check out this Snoop Dogg show on New Years Day at the House of Blues. It was tough gathering up all that energy to go, but you know what.. it was totally worth it!!
I was pretty much in zombie-mode before the show but once the music came on & Snoop Dogg jumped on stage, I came back to life! He definitely gave an awesome performance as he rapped a lot of old jams mixed with some of his recent hits. As you know, Snoop loves to blaze so it was only fitting for him to light up a blunt at the start of the show while he was rapping his verse to the new Dr. Dre song "Kush" (this is when the air started gettin real fresh). He also had Daz & Kurupt up on stage with him and did a couple of my favorite DPG hits (Kurupt was off da chain!). At one point during the show, Snoop did a segment for 2Pac which I thought was really cool of him as he's still keeping his memories alive even to this day.. R.I.P. 2Pac.
Here are some pictures & a video I took @ the event:
- Daz, Snoop, & Kurupt (Sorry Daz, but you got fat!)
- Doing a song for the ladies..
- Time to C-walk!
**Warning: The sound is mad distorted because my camera sucks, so mute it and check out Snoop Dizzle puff on a blunt while he's doin his thang. Hold up, wait a minute.. lemme put some kush up in it!
I gotta give Snoop mad credit though for holding it down strong for the WestCoast and still keeping his name active after being in the rap game since the early 90's. FYI, I heard he's supposed to come out with a new album soon called Doggumentary so I'll be keeping tabs on that.
Thanks to my homie J.Li for this one. Peace.

Day 75: A song for the ladies by Jamie Foxx featuring Drake (Music Video)
Jamie Foxx - Fall For Your Type featuring Drake
- Alt Audio Link
For those who didn't catch the premiere of this music video on BET last Friday, here it is for your listening & viewing pleasure.
This song featuring Drake will be on Jamie Foxx's new album called Best Night of My Life set to be released on December 21st. I'm sure the album will be filled with a lot of R&B and party-type music, so this should definitely be a good album to get for all you mainstream music lovers out there.
Personally, I can get into this type of music and I think Jamie Foxx is a very talented person who has done it all (television, movies, stand-up, & music), but I'll need to hear more songs from the album to get a better feel of it. Right now, I can dig Jamie Foxx as a musician but I'm not really too inclined to spend $$$ on an album like this.
I do like one of his tracks on this album, which I posted up before. Check it out here:

Day 72.5: Music Video Wednesday - A new joint from Joell Ortiz (Video)
Joell Ortiz - Battle Cry
- Alt Audio Link (the version on Free Agent)
For all the hip-hop heads out there, here's a dope song by Joell Ortiz of Slaughterhouse called "Battle Cry." This is that type of song where you can just relax with some herb on and bump your head to the beat. Just listen to his lyrics and how creative he is with his wordplay... dam.
This song has been out for a while now since he came out with the Farewell Summer EP, but I'm guessing he created this music video to help promote his recent album that just came out called Free Agent. I haven't had a chance to go get it yet but I'm sure it's full of wicked rhymes and chillin beats.

Day 72: Music Video Wednesday - Keri Hilson's hot new one (Video)
Keri Hilson - The Way You Love Me featuring Rick Ross
- Alt Audio Link
I only just heard this song as soon as I saw this music video last week (I swear!). I'm not really feeling this song too much, but I'm definitely falling for Keri Hilson a bit more after watching her dance in that sexy outfit in the music video. Umm, I don't really have much more to say.. that's really the main reason why I posted this up ;)
Keri's always been among the hottest female R&B artists of this generation since Timbaland basically introduced her into the limelight. Aside from her fine looks, I do like her as an artist as she's collaborated with some of my favorite hip-hop rappers such as Nas (in Hero) and Kanye West (in Knock You Down featuring Ne-Yo).
If you're into mainstream hip-hop & pop and are one of those club-goers then I'm sure this song is for you.
Props to my boy Dex for showing me this one.. =)

Day 70: And another one from J. Cole - "Who Dat" live in SJ (Video)
- The sound is softer & a bit clearer, but the picture quality is sort of fuzzy =(
As promised from my previous J. Cole post, here's the other video from my homies camera showing J. Cole performing live at Voodoo Lounge (San Jose, CA) last month. Here J. Cole is rapping his hit song "Who Dat" with a mix of a lil Biggie on the beat during the middle of it.
Props to my boy ShimpeEezy for this one.

Day 68: J. Cole Performance in SJ Recap (Pics + Videos)
11/27 (San Jose, CA): While I was in the bay for Thanksgiving break, My friends and I went to go check out J. Cole perform live @ Voodoo Lounge last Friday, and all I gotta say is he is one dope MC.
He definitely rocked the stage and gave everybody an awesome show. He performed his hit track "Who Dat" and rapped his verses from the mainstream song "All I Want is You" by Miguel. He also did a bunch of my fav's from his Friday Night Lights mixtape and some other jams from his older mixtape called The Warm Up.
The only downside was that Voodoo Lounge is a small venue and the stage was literally just a corner area. Also, it was pretty dark in general so I couldn't really take great pictures. Granted all that, it wasn't too crowded so I got a close view of the entire performance. Overall, the show was more than worth it.
Check out some pictures and a video I took of the event:
"Dollar & A Dream II" live:
- The sound is pretty distorted and the picture is dark because my camera is a POS..
- The sound gets better once he goes acappella
After seeing the pictures & video I took, I'm motivated to get a better camera and possibly a flip cam. Hopefully I can start saving money soon but for now this will have to do.
** Update: My homie has a better video so I'll post that up at the end of the week

Day 67: Poppin' Bottles with T.I. & Drake (Audio)
At first, Drake & T.I. went "Fancy" huh on Drake's recent album, Thank Me Later. Now, T.I. & Drake are back at it again and "Poppin' Bottles" for T.I.'s upcoming album called No Mercy set to be released on December 7th. Check it out:
T.I. - Poppin' Bottles featuring Drake (Produced by T-Minus & Boi-1da)
- Alt Audio Link
This song is straight fiiiiiiiirrre, the beat is just too dope, and you also get to hear the street-side of Drizzy-Drake (none of that singing stuff!). The lyrics may be too explicit for some, but it works for me!

Day 65.5: It's Friday Night! Time to check out some J. Cole (Audio)
In light of the J. Cole performance I'm about to check out tonight in the Bay Area, I just want to share with everybody some of his new tracks so you can get a taste of the good music I'm about to witness live. Here are some of my favorite songs from his recent mixtape called "Friday Night Lights":
J. Cole - In The Morning featuring Drake
- Alt Audio Link
- Slow jam type of song
J. Cole - You Got It featuring Wale
- Alt Audio Link
- This song is very upbeat
J. Cole - Blow Up
- Alt Audio Link
- This song just bumps
J. Cole - Back to the Topic (Freestyle)
- Alt Audio Link
- He got some tight rhymes in this song
Just to let you know, J. Cole is an up & coming hip-hop rapper & also a producer of most of his own music, which is something that's very difficult to do by one person. This guy has mad talent & a dope rap style, and I can't wait to check out his performance tonight!

Day 64: I dedicate this "Rap Song" to you - T-Pain & Rick Ross (Music Video)
- T-Pain (Left) & Rick Ross (Right)
This is among the very few songs I like from T-Pain called "Rap Song" featuring Rick Ross, which is the first official single off his upcoming album called "RevolveR" set to be released in Spring 2011. Check out the new music video below:
T-Pain - Rap Song featuring Rick Ross
- Alt Audio Link
- Pretty cool use of the still-motion filming throughout the entire music video
T-Pain is one of those off-the-wall type of artists with a wacky style (both in music & his choice of clothing), and is mostly known for making a lot of mainstream "radio" music with heavy use of the auto-tune. A lot of it's junk music to me but I'll give him credit though, some of his hits have a good overall sound (I think it's mostly because of the auto-tune). Here are some of my fav's from T-Pain: Can't Believe It featuring Lil Wayne & Buy U A Drank featuring Young Joc. Enjoy!
FYI, I might not be back until Friday so have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Day 63: Saigon is back with some real raps (New Music Video)
Saigon - Strength
Saigon is back again with that fire on a new track called "Strength." The beat is off the hook with the help of Just Blaze and he spits that realness with his rhymes that nobody can mimic. Hip-Hop at it's finest.
This song will be featured on Saigon's upcoming album called "The Greatest Story Never Told" set to be released on 2/15/11. Looking forward to this too!

Day 62: When bad meets evil again! Eminem & Royce da 5' 9" - The baddest duo (Audio)
Eminem & Royce da 5' 9" are back at it again on a new track called "Living Proof." This song reminds me of how they used to collaborate back in the days: keepin it real and not giving a f*** about what they say but at the same time dishing out the rawest lyrics. Check it out (may not be suitable for everyone):
Eminem - Living Proof featuring Royce da 5' 9"
- Alt Audio Link
I'm happy to see them working together again; just like when they both were beginning to emerge onto the hip-hop scene. At a point in time, Eminem went on a different path with his crew, D12, and became THE top rapper of our generation with the help of Dr. Dre.
Royce, on the other hand, did his solo thing for a while and sort of just stayed in the underground scene. Last year, he got together with other lyrically-talented rappers and formed the group called Slaughterhouse, which helped him reconnect with Eminem again. I'm not sure if Eminem reached an agreement to sign the group yet, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be a done deal soon.
I can't wait to hear more from these two. The bad & the evil.

Day 61: "Don't Let Me Fall" by B.o.B. (Music Video)
I'm growing to like B.o.B. (aka Bobby Ray) more & more these days as he's just so good at making mainstream hits and has a lot of uplifting songs. He's mostly well known for his song with Bruno Mars called "Nothing on You" and "Airplanes" featuring Haley Williams & Eminem, but I'm sure you already knew this.
Anyways, here's another one of my favorite tracks from his most recent album called "B.o.B. presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray":

Day 60: Is Dr. Dre really coming out with the "Detox" album? **REPOST
- Saw it here first: AshleyOutrageous.com
So, just recently there has been a buzz again about Dr. Dre giving people the notion that he will be releasing his so called "Detox" album that has been "in the making" for several years now. This album has been an on & off project that sort of faded away for a long time, but news about it is finally emerging again.
I just found this new XXL Magazine cover (above) for the December/January 2011 issue, so we will finally get a scoop on what the deal is with this "Detox" album that's supposed to top all of his older albums. Sources say this album will be set to be released in Q1 of 2011, but I'll believe it when I see it! More info about this can be found at: xxlmag.com.
On that note, here are two tracks that just recently leaked from the his"Detox" album. The first one features Akon & Snoop Dogg and the beat is fire (the way Dre uses the piano is siiik). The second features Eminem and sounds aiite (Em's verses are pretty deep though).
Dr. Dre - Kush featuring Snoop Dogg & Akon [**REMOVED]
Eminem - I Need A Doctor featuring Dr. Dre & Liz Rodrigues [**REMOVED]
FYI, these probably aren't the final versions of the songs as I'm sure Dre's gonna make some finishing touches to them. With that, should we believe "Detox" is actually coming?
----------------------- **REPOST:
Sorry everyone, but this post was taken down earlier because of the audio links (so lame). Well to make up for the loss of music (which I'm sure you can find elsewhere), here's a behind the scene look of the making of Dr. Dre's music video for the new song "Kush" featuring Akon & Snoop Dogg [Not suitable for everyone]:
- The music video was shot this past weekend in Downtown LA (Location: Unknown) with appearances from 50 Cent, E-40, and more
I'm pretty sure Dr. Dre is finally serious about releasing the "Detox" album, so we'll have to wait and see what else comes out in the next month or so.

Day 59: Time to chill to the sounds of David Banner & 9th Wonder (Audio)
- 9th Wonder (left) & David Banner (right)
9th Wonder came through with another sik beat as usual, and helped produce an awesome track for David Banner called "Be With You" featuring Ludacris & Marsha Ambrosius.
This is a very mellow song that has such soothing sounds of various band instruments used in the beat. It makes me want to just kick back & relax with my headphones, and really puts me in a cheerful mood as it has a happy vibe throughout the entire song. Check it out and listen for yourself:

FYI, David Banner & 9th Wonder are coming out with an album together called "Death of a Pop Star" which is set to be released this December 21st. I'll be keeping tabs on this album now as I'm sure it's going to be filled with a lot of quality tracks since 9th Wonder is on the collaboration.
Is it me or is there just too much good hip-hop music out this year?

I've always had an ear for mainstream Hip-Hop and R&B, but don't get me wrong I still like the OG, underground, and old school stuff too. On occasion I'll listen to other types of music, but this type of music is my base ;)
Have a good weekend everybody!
