Day 263: Everything is a Remix of a Remix

Everything is a Remix Part 1 (Music)

I was browsing around the web and landed on an interesting post on TheHundred.com blog, talking about the topic: original ideas vs copying, and that's how I came across these videos. From centuries past to the modern world today, I do see that everything we've ever done in history is a "remix" of something that was already done beforehand. I guess this is a part of human nature and evolution, but don't get caught remixing too much in today's age or you might get sued! F'reals though, tone down the remixing, especially in music, por favor.

Check out the other 3 parts of the series after the jump...

Some background: The 4-part video series created by a New York-based filmmaker, Kirby Fergusonexplains this concept of "remixing" (aka copying) in music, entertainment, and even technology with some historical references. Essentially, each idea we think is "original" is really a mix of bits and pieces of other ideas put together. If this doesn't make sense or you just want to be enlightened then check out the remaining videos here:

Everything is a Remix Part 3 (Technology: Macintosh)

Everything is a Remix Part 4 (Social Evolution)

- The info he talks about in this part reminds me of a 'Zeitgeist' movie..

Shout out to: Everythingisaremix.info ; some interesting stuff going on over here.
